Whilst researching my MA dissertation in Disability Arts (2005), I volunteered with Pyramid of Arts and Musical Arc, two Leeds based Disability Arts organisations for people with various impairments including learning difficulties. I facilitated the members’ learning and involvement in a range of art media, whilst discovering more about their group identity as Disabled artists and the empowering effect that art was having on their lives. I am enthusiastic about the possibility of building on and expanding this work.
